These numbers count single-family homes only. Condos, townhouses and attached homes are left out. They are the single-family homes that closed in Lincoln Highlands, from the MLS. A neighborhood this size can swing from one quarter to the next on a handful of sales, so these show where the market has been, not what your home will sell for. When doing neighborhood stats, it is imperative to use the correct boundaries, as overlapping into adjacent neighborhoods may skew results. Living in Lincoln Highlands

What it is like on the ground in Lincoln Highlands: getting around, errands, nature and schools, from Local Logic.

How did Lincoln Highlands grow up?

One of its early developments was Wilshire Heights, a 1924 subdivision sold by the Myran Brothers. London Road, platted in 1923 as part of Wilshire Heights, is named for Jack London, and it was built out by the late 1950s.

What is Lincoln Highlands known for?

Lincoln Avenue runs through the neighborhood, with the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, whose current church opened in December 1960, and the Oakland California Temple, rededicated in 2019. The hillside has views of San Francisco, for example from Rhoda Avenue. The shops, restaurants, library, and Dimond Park of the Dimond District are just below.

How do you get around from Lincoln Highlands?

Interstate 580 is close by, and the Fruitvale and MacArthur intersection in the Dimond is a major AC Transit hub with Transbay lines to San Francisco.

What kind of homes are in Lincoln Highlands?

Hillside homes from the 1920s on, on streets that climb above the Dimond. As with any home in Oakland, review the inspection reports, because old homes can come with old-home issues and drainage and foundation problems can show up on a hillside lot.

Parts of the Oakland hills are inside the City's Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone, which the City kept in place in 2025, so check the address: a sale in the zone includes defensible space paperwork under state law, and it is worth getting insurance quotes early.

What schools are in or near Lincoln Highlands?

The closest public schools on the Dimond side are Sequoia Elementary School on Lincoln Avenue, for kindergarten through grade 5, and Bret Harte Middle School on Coolidge Avenue, both in the Oakland Unified School District. School boundaries don't follow neighborhood names, so check the district's boundary map for any address you're considering. The Oakland page lists the public and private schools across the city.

What should sellers in Lincoln Highlands know?

With hillside lots, the questions buyers ask are about the foundation, drainage, the roof, and older electrical. Answering them before you list keeps them from becoming negotiating points later. Oakland's own steps apply here as everywhere in the city. The City's transfer tax is charged in tiers on the whole price, plus Alameda County's own transfer tax. The sewer lateral needs a compliance certificate or a time extension certificate before escrow closes, the sale triggers a sidewalk compliance certificate, with some exemptions, and a home in the City's Very High fire zone adds defensible space paperwork. Who brings the sewer lateral and the sidewalk into compliance, the seller or the buyer, is negotiated. My page on selling your home in Oakland lays it out.

Why do homeowners sell in Lincoln Highlands?

Homeowners move on for all kinds of reasons including (but not limited to): upsizing to a second or third home, divorce, relocating for work, or the passing of a family member.
