Relocation: Relocating With Kids and Pets

Title card for the article: Relocation: Relocating With Kids and Pets

Relocating with kids, or with pets, comes with its own set of challenges, and the younger your kids are, or the more special needs involved, the more that challenge can grow.

Hi, I'm Tanja Odzak, Realtor with eXp Realty, helping people sell and buy homes right here in the East Bay for the last 10 years.

Snacks, drinks, and entertainment for kids, food, water, and regular breaks for pets, all essential during the move itself. If you're driving, plan your route around more frequent stops than you'd normally take, dogs need walks, and even reluctant cats deserve litter box time. Downloaded movies, games, podcasts, and audiobooks tend to work far better than books alone for keeping kids occupied, and keep favorite toys accessible rather than buried in the moving truck.

Avoid marathon driving days, kids and pets both struggle with being contained that long. A quirky roadside stop here and there keeps the trip feeling like an adventure instead of an ordeal.

I'm Tanja Odzak, and I've sold over $100 million worth of homes with a decade of experience in the East Bay. Relocating is exhausting for everyone involved, but it's absolutely doable with a little patience and planning. Reach out if you need help connecting with a strong agent in your new city.
