How to FSBO: Selling Your Home for Top Dollar, Part One
Want to sell quickly for a strong profit? It takes more than luck, it takes real preparation. Here are five ways to help your home shine above the competition.
Hi, I'm Tanja Odzak, Realtor with eXp Realty, helping people sell and buy homes right here in the East Bay for the last 10 years.
First, disassociate emotionally from your house. It's genuinely hard to let go of a home full of memories, but a house without you in it is just a shell for its next occupants. Second, depersonalize, pack away family photos and personal items so buyers can picture their own life there instead of yours.
Third, declutter seriously. If you haven't used something in a year, you likely don't need it, donate what you can and haul the rest. Fourth, organize closets and cabinets, buyers open them, and a tidy, well-kept storage space signals a well-kept house overall. Fifth, consider a storage unit for extra furniture, a home almost always shows better with less in it, and clear pathways make every room feel bigger.
I'm Tanja Odzak, and I've sold over $100 million worth of homes with a decade of experience in the East Bay. This is only the beginning of getting a home market-ready, and I work with trusted professionals who handle decluttering, cleaning, repairs, and staging when you need the extra hands.
