4 Things You Need to Expect When Selling With an Agent

Title card for the article: 4 Things You Need to Expect When Selling With an Agent

Working with a local East Bay agent to sell your house, or considering it? Here are four things worth expecting going in.

Hi, I'm Tanja Odzak, Realtor with eXp Realty, helping people sell and buy homes right here in the East Bay for the last 10 years.

First, money. An agent charges a commission for a real service, and that can add up to a real number, worth knowing upfront rather than being surprised by later. Second, time. An agent wants your home sold quickly too, but is ultimately at the mercy of what buyers want, and can't always guarantee a specific timeline.

Third, showings. Finding a buyer means letting people walk through your home, so expect to coordinate your schedule around showings, sometimes leaving while buyers tour. Fourth, unknowns. Agents provide real expertise, but they don't control the market, competing listings, buyer demand, lending conditions, and the broader economy all shape how a sale plays out, sometimes differently than hoped.

I'm Tanja Odzak, and I've sold over $100 million worth of homes with a decade of experience in the East Bay. Selling can feel daunting, knowing these four things upfront makes working with an agent feel a lot less like a leap of faith.
