As a buyer looking to purchase a home the East Bay area, there’s a lot of noise and conflicting information out there, sprinkled with a lot of opinion. There’s a lot of GENERIC information about Real Estate on Big Box real estate websites, but but markets vary! Add to that the fact that the market is *always* changing and, well… All this combined, can make it REALLY tough to make sense of it all!
So what’s the #1 secret to buying a home? Finding the right agent who is qualified to lead and guide you down the right path. I’m a seasoned and experienced Realtor who guides my buyers through each step of the process, so that they’re not spinning their wheels out there alone, wasting hours and hours online, and not finding the right information.
Here are some key steps that I take you through as part of the home-buying process:
Determine your budget. You must understand your financial situation including your credit score, income, and expenses. This will help determine what you can afford.
Get connected with a great lender and get pre-approved for a loan. This will put you in a better position to negotiate an offer. Better yet, get a pre-underwritten preapproval.
Identify your priorities. Make a list of your must-haves and can’t live withouts. Consider factors like location, size, and number of bedrooms and baths. Then prioritize them, so you know what’s negotiable and what’s a MUST!
Exercise patience & flexibility. The home-buying process can be time-consuming, stressful and sometimes frustrating. Be prepared for multiple offers, negotiations and delays. Be patient!
Plan for the long term. Consider your long-term goals before making an offer. How will the property suit your needs in the coming years?
