Were you around for the Oakland / Berkeley Hills fire of 1991? I was in my first year of college at UC Berkeley, and it was really scary. The sky was black, you could see smoke from miles around. I was too young and naive to really understand it back then, other than it just felt like everything was burning down and we were all helpless. I can’t remember much about the air quality… but after the past several years, and being a mom to two young kids, I’ve learned a LOT! Including, that there is a lot that can be done with preventative measures.
