Suhaila Salimpour, Wow. Where to start? Second-generation Middle Eastern American belly dancer Suhaila Salimpour is best known for the global influence of her own game-changing format on belly dance performance and instruction. Her mother, Jamila Salimpour, brought bellydance to the Bay Area back in the 1940’s. Suhaila’s work has been recognized by leaders in other dance forms for its depth and innovation, preserving the essence of belly dance while bringing it into the 21st century with grace and integrity.
Jill Parker is the founder of the modern Fusion Belly Dance phenomenon, birthed out of San Francisco California in the mid-90’s.
Jill was an original member of Fat Chance Belly Dance, and founder of Ultra Gypsy Dance Theater, the trail blazing company that birthed many of the most reputable fusion dancers .
With nearly three decades of experience, Jill has trained the top Belly Dancers in the genre and influenced a generation of belly dancers with her modern innovations, all the while remaining deeply rooted in her connection to the traditional, sensual and authentic.
Zoe Jakes is a powerhouse and a pioneer of the fusion belly dance style. With her boundary breaking approach and intricately aesthetic approach to fusion dance, she will take you on a sensory experience. Her signature technique incorporates pop and lock isolations, elements of classical Indian dance, jazz footwork and modern lines, with an abundance of folk belly dance inspiration. I am a founding member of the electronic and world fusion group Beats Antique, where I compose music and am the lead dancer.
